How to Configure an LPD Printer With Dell

Go to the printer manufacturer's website to download and install the most recent drivers for your printer.
Connect your printer to your computer and power it on when you are instructed to do so during installation. If you are not instructed to do so, turn it on after you install the software.
Click 'Start,' 'Control Panel,' 'Programs' and 'Turn Windows features on or off.'
Click the '+' to the left of 'Print and Document Services.' Click 'LPD Print Service' and 'OK.'
Click the back button in the top left of the Control Panel window. Click 'View devices and printers' under the 'Hardware and Sound' heading.
Right-click the name of your printer and click 'Printer properties.' Click the 'Sharing' tab.
Click 'Share this printer' and 'OK.' Close the Control Panel window. Your printer is now configured as an LPD printer.
