How to Troubleshoot a Dell V305

Open the Windows 7 'Start' menu and click the 'Devices and Printers' button. Click the Dell V305 icon and select the 'See What's Printing' option. Right-click the document waiting to be printed and choose 'Resume.' If the 'Resume' option is not present and the option instead reads 'Pause,' do not select any of the options -- just close the window.
Unplug the USB cable and power cable attached to the back side of the printer. Grab the bottom edge of the lid at the front side of the printer. Lift the lid so the interior area of the printer is visible.
Look to see if any sheets of paper are jammed inside the V305. Hold the edge of the jammed sheet and firmly pull it toward you until it comes out of the printer. Repeat the process with any additional jammed paper.
Locate the ink cartridge carrier inside the printer. Press down the plastic lever above the first ink cartridge and repeat the process with the second cartridge. Pull both cartridges out, and then set them back into the carrier. Ensure each cartridge snaps firmly into place, with the gold-colored strip on the cartridge facing down and away from you.
Set the plastic levers above the cartridges back into place. Close the printer's lid and plug the USB and power cable back into the ports on the back of the V305.
Locate the right arrow key on the panel at the right side of the printer. Tap the key until the printer's display reads 'Maintenance.' Press the 'Select' button. Use the right arrow key to scroll to the 'Align Cartridges' entry. Tap 'Select' again to perform an alignment and print off an alignment test page.
Open your computer's 'Start' menu and click 'Restart.' Wait for the operating system to finish restarting and attempt to print your document or image again.
