How to Assign an IP Address to a Network Printer

Print a test page from your printer. The exact procedure for printing a test page varies, so consult your user guide for instructions. If your printer uses a control panel, you can scroll through the printer menus until you see 'Print Configuration' or 'Print Test Page.' For printers without a control panel, you can often hold the 'Power' or 'Start' button down until the test page prints.
Locate the current IP address from the configuration page. The IP address displays in the networking section of the page.
Log on to your computer and open your Web browser. Type the IP address from the configuration page into the address bar and hit the 'Enter' key.
Go to the 'Network' or 'Network Settings' menu and enter the IP address you want to use. The IP address is a series of four numbers between 0 and 255, with each number separated by a period. For instance, a typical IP address might be 25.79.82.142.
Click 'OK' to confirm the new IP address, and print off a new configuration page to make sure the IP address is correct. Go back to the Web interface and make changes, if necessary.

Click the 'Menu' button on the printer's control panel until you see the 'Networking' menu. Click the 'Item' button until you see the 'TCP/IP' option, and click 'Select' to confirm your choice.
Press the 'Item' button to select 'IP Byte 1' and use the 'Value' menu to assign the first byte of the IP address.
Press the 'Item' button to select the 'IP Byte 2' option. Enter the next part of the IP address. Repeat for 'IP Byte 3' and 'IP Byte 4' to enter the third and fourth number in the IP address. Click 'Select' to confirm your choices.
Scroll through the printer menu until you see 'Print Test Page' or 'Print Configuration Page.' Verify that the IP address is correct.
