How to Change the Ink Cartridges on an HP C4480
Press the “On” button to power the HP C4480 printer. The button is on the upper-left corner of the printer. Let the printer to go through its start-up phase. Wait for the carriage to stop moving.
Gently pull down the front panel to access the ink cartridge carriage. The carriage will slide all the way to the right.
Push down on the cartridge to release it, and then pull each cartridge out of its slot.
Remove the new cartridge out of its package, and remove the tape covering the ink ports. Place the new cartridges into the carriage with the ink wells pointing toward the printer. Push the cartridge firmly and carefully into the carriage until it snaps into position.
Close the front cover of the printer, making sure it snaps shut.
Load plain white paper into the input tray. Find the button next to 'OK' on the control panel, and press it. The printer will then print out an alignment page.
Lift up the top cover of the printer to reveal the copier glass. Place the alignment page printing-side down on top of the glass, aligning the corner of the page with the lower-right corner of the glass.
Close the top over the paper as you would when making a copy. Press the 'OK' button. The printer prints a copy of the alignment page, and the cartridges are now aligned.
