How to Set Up an HP 4100 Network Printer (6 Steps)
Choose a location for the printer that gives at least 2 inches of unobstructed space all the way around the printer. Make sure the location is not exposed to direct sunlight and that the surface is level.
Unwrap the bag around the printer and remove all packing materials from the inside of the printer. Slide the selector on the top left side of the printer from the locked icon to the unlocked icon.
Remove all packing materials from the ink cartridge. Open the printer’s top cover and install the cartridge inside, then close the cover.
Open the paper drawer and place a stack of paper inside. Adjust the paper guides to the size of the paper inside and close the drawer.
Plug the power cord and jumper cord together, then plug them into the printer and a power outlet. Plug an Ethernet cable into the printer’s jack and a wall outlet.
Turn on the printer and press “Menu” and use the arrows to select “Configure Device.” Choose “I/O” then “JetDirect Menu” and type in the IP address you wish to assign the printer.
