How to Find the IP Address of My Dell (3 Steps)

Press the Windows button and the 'r' button at the same time to bring up the 'Run' dialogue box.
Start the command prompt program by typing 'cmd' into the 'Run' dialogue box.
Type 'ipconfig' in the command prompt window and press 'Enter.' This will run the Windows IP Configuration program. Go down to where you see 'Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection' to find your IP address. This will not work properly if you are plugged into a router (or connected to a wireless router using Wi-Fi); you need to be plugged directly into the modem. If you are behind a router you will only see the IP address of the router, not of your specific computer.
